It’s that time of year, the days are shortening, the veil between the living and the dead grows thin. Come one, come all to the Dark Ones Dead Man’s Party where we’ll explore the origins of various Halloween traditions.

Samhain, the Celtic fall holiday, is why we wear costumes, go trick ‘r treating, and carve jack o’lanterns. The Romans & Celts gave us bobbing for apples, and the Aztecs are the source for Dia de los Muertos calavera painting. Many cultures observe fall harvest celebrations, and it was also a time for honoring or connecting with the dead.

At this event, you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Decorate a foam ‘sugar skull’
  • Bob for apples (on a string)
  • Honor the dead at our ofrenda
  • Gather a bag of treats at our Trick ‘r Treat table
  • Share a scary story around the fire
  • Enjoy a special midnight snack

We will be observing some Covid protocols — temperatures will be taken at the Gate, masks are required inside the house (optional outside). We will be repeating our line mitigation systems for the Bar and bathrooms that worked well at the Summer Party. For a more complete list of our Covid protocols, please refer to this document:  https://tinyurl.com/fy4cap62

Bring food to share (individualized portions preferred), costumes are optional.

Here’s our Potluck page for ideas, or let us know what you’re bringing:
